SPS2003 Document Library Migration to MOSS

A number of folks have asked about doing this without buying any third party tools. Obviously, you could go do a complete upgrade to MOSS and this would satisfy the need but for whatever the reason many of you just want to migrate one or more libraries while maintaining your metadata and folder structure. I have used the following:

You could transfer the content database to the MOSS farm. Obviously, this would work best if the content database only contains one site collection that contains the specific content you are interested in. This may not be practical for most of you.

Isolating a single site collection in a content database can be done using the WSSSplit tool. This is an open source tool up on GotDotNet. You can then transfer the content database after you isolate the site collection.

As with any type of upgrade/migration, you should do a prescan first.
