Finally we have a Download Manager in IE!!
With the release of IE 9 beta, we release a much awaited feature in IE – Download Manager ..
Download Manager is a powerful new feature that keeps a running list of the files you download from the Internet and notifies you when a file could be malicious. It also lets you pause and restart a download—if you have a slow internet connection—and shows you where to find downloaded files on your computer
The other features included in the beta release are :
- Streamlined design
- Pinned Sites
- Enhanced tabs
- New Tab page
- Search in the address bar
- Notification Bar
- Add-on Performance Advisor
- Hardware acceleration
Go ahead and download your personal copy of the beta from here.

Yeah I agree, the Download manager is a relief. And if Microsoft's to be believed, maybe we will have a faster and graphics heavy IE. Also, you can follow more on the story on www.whatsnewonthenet.comAnonymous

One bug I filed against Chrome was around the behavior when I'm doing a large download (that will take some time) from my laptop and put it to sleep. Chrome (at least when I filed the bug) stopped the download (the download wasn't running when I took the laptop out of sleep) and claimed the partly-created file was 'done'. I really want a download manager that does the (somewhat obvious) Right Thing - resume the download when the laptop resumes (HTTP range support or whatever) and if resume fails, prompt or leave the download manager entry as 'redownload or cancel' or whatever.
