Banning Social Media – a good idea?

I am really against banning social media – especially with the reasoning of the work performance. To me, this is a management job, not a technology job and by banning social media to make people more productive – I doubt that this is really successful.

Now, I read this article: Why Banning Social Media Often Backfires which is definitely worth reading! as it goes down the road I just mentioned above.

    I'll do you one better. Our local school board voted to ban the use of Social Media by teachers to contact or inform any student.

    Great post! The think the decision to try and block social media is driven by a lack of understanding of the technology. It is such an important technology, and taken as a right by most youth, that we can't stick our heads in the sand and hope the issue goes away.
