SQL Server 2008 Service Pack (SP) Uninstall

Starting in SQL Server 2008 SP1, uninstall will be supported.  When you install a Service Pack, an entry is added to Add or Remove Programs or Program and Features in Vista and above.  The uninstall wizard is launched through this entry.

 

Behaviors:

  • Files restored to previous version, for example:
    • You install SQL Server 2008 + CU1 + SP1, on SP1 uninstall the files will go back to CU1
    • You install SQL Server 2008 + SP1 + CU2 + SP2, on SP2 uninstall the files will go back CU2

    Nobody giving correct information about uninstallation of sql server 2008
