Windows Phone Hackathon in NYC – Saturday December 10th, 2011

ILoveMangoJust learned of another opportunity to learn to develop Windows Phone apps going on in NYC!  The NYC Windows Phone User Group is going to be hosting a hackathon at the Microsoft offices in NYC on Saturday December 10th, 2011.  My teammate Dani Diaz, who is our resident “WP7 guru” evangelist, will be there all day along with other phone gurus to help get you going.

NYCBigApps3LogoThe NYC Big Apps 3.0 challenge recently kicked off.  It is a challenge run by New York City challenging developers to create apps that use city data to make NYC better.  The city is backing the challenge with $50k in cash and prizes!

The WP7 hackathon might be a good venue to brainstorm some app ideas for the contest with like-minded NY’ers!  Read on for details…

Interested in developing Windows Phone Apps? Then this hackathon is for you. Join other New York City developers for a day full geeky-ness. We will have Windows Phone experts in house to help you with your App ideas.

In addition we will be running short to the point talks on various Windows Phone topics including but not limited to: MVVM, Location APIs, Live Tiles, Background Agents, Cloud Integration and many others.

But I don’t have an App idea can I still come? Sure this event is meant to inspire you. Consider working on an app for NYC Big Apps.  They are offering a lot of nice prizes for the best apps and other categories.

We hope to see you there.

Also, remember that there is still one more Windows Phone Camp coming to our area on Thursday, December 1st, 2011 at Hofstra University on Long Island. Registration on that event is currently full, but if you have an app you want to get into the Marketplace, I might be able to make an exception for you if you reach out to me via my blog.

Hope to see a lot of apps created on the 10th!
