Windows Azure Deep Dive with Jeffrey Richter
This is the first of two sets of Windows Azure-related events hitting select cities on the US East Coast in Spring 2011. The other is the Azure Tech Jam.
Join Jeffrey Richter for a FREE full day of in-depth, live learning as he teaches architects & developers how to leverage Azure's data storage and compute services. Jeffrey Richter is a .NET Rock star (yes, he’s been on .NET Rocks a few times!), the co-founder of Wintellect, and author of CLR via C# (one of the definitive books on .NET!). The Azure Deep Dive events will be coming to four Microsoft offices in the middle of May 2011.
City | Date |
New York (simulcast) | 5/13/2011 |
Waltham, Ma (Boston area) | 5/16/2011 |
Alpharetta, Ga (Atlanta area) | 5/18/2011 |
Reston, Va (DC area) | 5/20/2011 |
Registration for all live events (which run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)is via Wintellect’s site, and if you aren’t in the proximity of one of these locations, you can sign up for the simulcast of the New York City event on the MSDN Events site.
The day will start off with a whirlwind tour of the various independent services that make up the Windows Azure Service Platform consumable from both cloud and on-premise services. Then we will discuss Azure's Data Storage services concentrating on blobs (for video, music, text, documents, etc.), tables (for non-relational data), and queues (for durable messaging between on-premise & cloud-based services).
The day will continue with a focus on Azure's compute services which allow you to deploy your own applications into Microsoft's data centers. Finally, we'll discuss deployment, configuration, management, tools, roles & how your roles interact with the Azure fabric controller.
Agenda
Introduction to the Windows Azure Service Platform
Platform as a Service versus Platform as a service, stateful servers versus stateless servers, the independent Azure services.
Azure Blobs
Containers, conditional operations, block & page blobs, continuation tokens, snapshots, leases, shared access signatures, simulating directory hierarchies, custom domain names, content delivery service, & retry policies
Azure Tables
Properties, partitioning, serializing entities, updating entities, optimistic concurrency
Azure Queues
Scenarios, robust message processing & idempotency, handling poison messages
Azure Compute Services
Deployment, configuration, tools, roles & interaction with the Azure fabric controller, architecting services for Azure
Register now and save your seat for this FREE, full-day of live learning with Jeffrey Richter. We look forward to seeing you at the event.
