We are Virginia Tech

As you may, or may not know, I am a Virginia Tech alumnus. Fortunately, I am not directly connected to any of the victims of the tragic events that have taken place over the past few days. I wanted to thank everyone out there for the support you have poured out on our university the past few days, especially for your prayers.

I was amazed at the response of Virginia Governor Tim Kaine and President George Bush to the situation and their amazing examples of tact and leadership.

I'm extremely proud to be a Hokie and extremely proud to be an American.

Friday, April 20 (4/20), 2007 will be National Maroon and Orange Effect day. I invite all alumni, faculty, students, family, friends, and fans of Virginia Tech to proudly wear your maroon and orange in support and respect for the 32 victims of Monday's tragedy.

Like all of you, my heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to the families of the deceased, their friends, classmates, and all Hokies directly impacted.
