Dynamics AX 4.0 Release

Partners can now download Dynamics AX 4.0 from this location:
https://mbs.microsoft.com/partnersource/products/axapta/downloads/releases/ax40download.htm

US and Canadian customers can get the code by contacting their Partner. Existing customer licences will however not be updated until late 2006 when more languages are available. If a customer in US or Canada needs to upgrade sooner, the Partner can place a service request with Sales Operations.

I'll keep you posted in regards to other regions when I get to figure out the schedule.

Also you might want to register for the Dynamics AX launch event in Boston where Steve Ballmer and the Dynamics AX team will celebrate the worldwide launch.

    Hi Palle!
In your last post you wrote that Ax 4.0 will be downloadable in MSDN. Is that still the case and do you know when it will be available?
    Best regards

Our partner is telling us the download is only for 'new' customers? Is that true?

I want to get a copy to play with, even if we're not ready to upgrade but they are stonewalling.

A customer with the proper upgrade subscriptions should, as far as I know, be able to get a copy to play with even if they are not anywhere near clear to go into production with the new version.

I'm trying to investigate where AX 4.0 can be found in MSDN. You will of course need the proper MSDN subscription to obtain it.

AFAIK Ax40 is downloadable only from PartnerSource and licenses available only for U.S. partners

Well, we certainly have a license and are due an upgrade... So our partner telling us that the 4.0 RTM is only for 'new customers' is totally bogus?

I'm assuming there is only one set of binaries? Why would they tell us this?

Seems like there is some waiting time for existing customers to get their licenses upgraded before late 2006. Please see the updated post.

However it would make sense if the Partner could provide a version with a demo license. I haven't seen any facts about demo licenses though. Your partner would know more about that, than I do.
