I'm a Winner! :)

I'm actually a fairly low key person, but when I get into a competitive situation, I want to win! If I don't win, I still enjoy the heck out of it though.

So yesterday we flew two MP sailplane races and two MP Red Bull races. I am very happy to say I won both sailplane races with course records on both attempts (although there was too much lift) and won 1 of the 2 Red Bull races. It just feels good :)

On Red Bull races we ran it was so cool seeing three of us diving for the first gate. On the first race Brandon and I were neck and neck for at least 4 laps. I could hear his engine in my headphones the whole way and occasionally get glimpses of his plane when he would eek out ahead for a second or two.

With the Red Bull courses it's all about knowing the course, flying smoothly and with precision, picking the best line, and knowing when to slow down or add more power. However with the sailplane race it's about managing energy. managing the aircraft configuration and trim, and knowing when to stay in a thermal and when to take a risk and leave a thermal. Of course knowing how to efficiently thermal is key as well. It's very disconcerting when you decide to stay in a thermal and someone else decides to leave it and flys up ahead on the course.

I really like how different the two types of racing are and how they require different skills to succeed.

I certainly hope we will get enhanced crash effects, but it's not going to happen in FSX Adrenaline. Just not enough time. When we eventually do add this into the product, it won't be possible on some aircraft due to partnership agreements with some manufacturers...

Batrakio, Vatsim is a separate service that specializes is super-realistic pilot/ATC interaction. I doubt air racing would be appropriate within that environment. LAN is for playing on a local area network such as in an office or a locan network at home. Most of the air racing in FSX Adrenaline will be via gamespy on the internet. What's special about SP1 is that most users should see significant performance improvement overall. We are also taking the opportunity to include bug fixes for some issues (not all issues).

it's not to aracade! But FSX needs a new ATC system, one that makes you able to do a crash landing with firefighters on position. Microsoft has reached a point, FSX is so "state of the art" for a game that makes me think that it's gonna be years 'til we see a ne FS. All Microsoft has to do now is improve it, and achieve reality. Alphasim and others have aircraft carriers, and fully detailed with costume animations you can't get for free military aircraft. But, I don't like getting stuff from there, and I'm sure that in the world there is another milion people who think the same. Reason: -It's not official If Microsoft in the next 2 or 3 years continued to improve FSX, beleive me, it would be one of the best games you can get! Besides, most people might not like flying, but love the military fighters. If FSX got a military expansion it would reach limits!

What FSX needs,... A Military Expasion Pack, but no combat(it could have like talking a hijacked plane down), and a Reality Expansion. A Military Expansion could have advanced carriers, air-to-air refueling, and other stuff. The Reality should like have at least some enhaced crashes(it wouldn't be like a plane breaking, only some effects, and also crash landing).

Sounds like fun... I'd take you on anytime via the vatsim network using fsx and vista... erm... well ok, that is once there's a client that works to connect all three items at once ;) Really looking forward to the SP1 patch, hope all is well.

I don't think crash effects are important in this sim.  Too arcade. Could you tell me what flight control system you use or which setup you would recommend in order to fully enjoy FSX?
