Helicopters in FSX
I've been meaning to post something about this for awhile and kept forgetting to do it. I saw a thread on flightsim.com that reminded me, so here goes.
There have been a few hardcore helicopter enthusiasts that don't like the new easier to fly helicopter model. I think we did the right thing making the helicopters a little easier to fly (and fixing the bug with the stability problems on the JetRanger were critical as well), as more users are enjoying the helicopters than ever before. This means the popularity of helicopters in the community will go way up! That's good for everyone.
If you want to make them harder to fly (and closer to what FS9 had) then try these adjustments. I haven't tried them myself so don't complain if they aren't a magic fix for you :)
In the Bell's aircraft.cfg there are stability scalars in the [helicopter] section:
[helicopter]
low_realism_stability_scale = 1,1,1
Changing these to something less than 1 will change the ease in which the helicopter flies. Around .66 should replicate FS9 behavior.

The Bell 206 is a very old simulation which we have moved forward with bug fixes, but haven't gotten the startup part fully simulated (Dodo sim has done that though).Anonymous

Is there a way to start the 206 without pressing Ctrl E? Am I missing something? By the way I also really enjoy the new helicopter stability. If you can't fly them you can't enjoy them and with all the new visuals in FSX I'm glad I can go low and slow to appreciate all of them.Anonymous

I agree on the fact that more people are using helis now, almost every server I go to has loads of 206s buzzing around. I'm a heli guy, real world and FS, personally I fly helis about 99% of the time in FS and I've always been curious about the realism aspect. One thing that kinda has me confused... If I have my realism settings on easy, shouldn't that make them easy to fly? as apposed to having my settings on hard which would, well make them hard to fly. Oh while on helis, the 206s co-pilot door when opened outside isn't animated to open in the VC, tsk tsk tsk :)Anonymous

Hey there, PC-12C! Aputech here. Is there a way to reverse the throttle in FSX? I had it that way in FS9, but the method escapes me. I've been trying to get used to pushing the throttle forward for more collective, but it's just too strange.
