What happened to Dr. Watson?

While I was trying to juggle around various ways of capturing a crash dump on a Windows Vista machine , I got to know a fact about Doctor Watson.

In windows Vista Doctor Watson doesn't really exist!!, which was suppose to be a default debugger program in all the previous version of Windows.

This made me put my thinking cap on to find out what application has replaced Dr. Watson on Vista , many of you might be knowing it but I invested some time not only to find out what application has replaced Dr. Watson on Vista but also how to configure it to take automatic dumps while the application unexpectedly crashes.

Dr. Watson, the system failure or "crash" analysis tool, has been replaced in this version of Windows with Problem Reports and Solutions.

Problem Reports and Solutions helps you check for solutions to hardware and software problems that can occur on your computer. You can set Windows to report problems and check for solutions automatically, or you can choose to check for solutions whenever a problem occurs. Problem descriptions and solutions are saved, so you can view them at any time.

Where does Problem Reports and Solution exist in windows vista.

1) Open Problem Reports and Solutions by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking Problem Reports and Solutions.
