Two Weeks to GO : THe PDC Awaits
Well at this time in two weeks, the first PDC keynote will just be about to start. I personally can not wait for it to kick off. Even in these tough times it looks highly likely that we are still going to sell out and I believe that the attendees will leave pumped from what they see.
Sure they will see Windows 7 ( and take away the bits ), they will here about the cloud services ( there have been a lot of SteveB discussed on his recent trips ), but the bigger thing will be how developers see us bringing all this together in an architecture that is easy to understand.
Some big questions : is there now a third type of application class (or certainly a blurring )which is emerging, one which is mainly built with Web 2.0 technologies, but ultimately works far better when it is close to the Personal Computer ( I include the Mac in this story and any occasionally connected device ). A classic example of this is Mesh. When you can write applications for the Mesh, you are effectively providing off-line capabilities to your Web 2.0 applications, so that when you are not on-line it still works great. Then when you connected back, your updates are sync’d back to the cloud.
Can’t wait.
