Ethiopian schools rolling out 250,000 Laptops to school teachers

Ethiopia is rolling out 250,000 laptops to its school teachers nationwide. The system that powers the curriculum, keeps track of the academic records and provides secure transfer of data is being power by Windows Azure.

What makes the really interesting is that fact that Ethiopia does not have to focus on the capital and operational expenditure for deploying such a system and can rather deploy this in the cloud and then scale as needed to meet demand.
