Microsoft IT Camps

IT Camps are a free in-person event for anyone seeking practical hands on experience as it applies to Microsoft products and technologies. These events are differentiated from instructor-led training or briefing in that they are intended to deliver a technical overview and hands-on experience that is less formal or structured than traditional instructor-led training.

The format is intended to be fun, exciting, and very interactive. It centres on real-world discussions between expert presenters and IT practitioners who attend.

In the beginning of March, Microsoft South Africa facilitated six IT Camps focused on Private Cloud. These camps covered System Center Operations Manager 2012 & Configuration Manager 2012, and were delivered by our Partner  Solution Architects and Consultants from Dimension Data and Gijima.

The general feedback from the attendees was that these IT Camps were desperately needed, as well as that the content was localized and relevant to our market. For those that were unable to attend, the format of the IT Camps are semi-structured, non-marketing events, exclusively designed to serve the IT Professionals in South Africa.

The key goals of the camps are:

  • Interaction with Microsoft in an open dialog
  • Share experiences, scenario discussions
  • Engage in group exercises, problem solving and solution design

We will be running the next set of Camps in April, focussing on System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012. As soon as the dates are locked, we will be announcing them and sending out the invites to register.

I encourage those that are members of the LinkedIn Group (Microsoft Professionals - South Africa), as well as followers of our Blog, Twitter and Facebook forums to share this information and media forums with colleagues. We intend to use these formats to grow the IT Professional Community in South Africa.

Cheers, Morgan...
