Mine were in a slight different location (using Windows 7), but your answer still clued me in to finding it.  Mine are at:C:Users<username>AppDataRoamingMicrosoftInternet ExplorerQuick LaunchUser PinnedTaskBar

@MikeInPlano    The %APPDATA% in Ben's OP is a pointer to the same location as you have described - but doesn't involve knowing what your user profile is called.. :)

the OP path is pastable into a windows explorer window... put quotes at the beginning and end if you want to paste it as a target location for a shortcut.

This was fine in 2009 for Windows 7 - But where are the taskbar buttons stored that you pin in the start screen in the latest build of Windows 10?

For Michael Settle:Same place. Just make sure you enter %appdata% instead of %localappdata%
