Do you still have Internal Use Rights Software (IUR) to assign to users within your organization?

One of the key benefits of subscribing to a Microsoft Action Pack or attaining a competency is the access to different internal use software licenses, enabling you to use the latest Microsoft on-premise, hybrid and cloud technologies. By assigning the licenses to as many relevant users in your organization as possible you will be able to:

  1. Help increase productivities of your sales and marketing teams
  2. Enable your staff to become familiar and knowledgeable about the products and increase credibility when talking to customers
  3. Perform internal development and testing on latest technology
  4. Reduce the cost of running your internal business
  5. Get dedicated Partner Support to help deploy your IUR licenses
  6. Sell approximately 3 times larger deal size compared to partners who do not use their IURs

Peter Mackenzie, VP of Sales & Marketing at EnvisionIT.

Our earned IUR core benefits has allowed us to use the software licenses to run our business, develop applications, train and sell our solutions. We continuously find huge benefit in the obvious cost savings on license cost but also to use the software so we can show clients that we use it to run our business and show them how we benefit from the productivity.

I do not know how we could be perceived by our clients as truly believing in our solutions if we did not implement them for our own company.

When we discuss the possibilities with clients for their business, we use a combination of client solutions and our own business examples to demonstrate concrete ways in which organizations benefit, which would not have been possible without the latest versions of all the Microsoft products available through IUR.

My tip to you is when you are using cloud services, stay current on the number of your Internal Use Right licenses, competency management and changes including MPN renewals as they become critical or you may find your production systems down while you get your competency back if it lapsed or missed your renewal date.

 Do you need more licenses?

You always have the option to buy licenses however, you might be considering attaining a competency or an additional competency. To see how you could gain more IURs, check out the MPN site to learn about IUR, how to use them and gain more licenses Competencies and IUR entitlement

This is a great feature. However it does not work for some of us - in that our MSDN subscriptions were created with personal accounts - while certain IUR are only available for organizational accounts, which we have created in Azure AAD. However when you try to assign IUR credits for apps such as Power BI Pro - which only accepts an organizational account - the login screen to activate the IUR credits uses the Office 365 login screen, which doesn't work for Azure AAD accounts :-( I spent much time with Microsoft support people on the phone trying to get this working - and they have not yet been successful.
