I don't disagree that this is limited "good news", after all, what happens next month? But I do think that it's indicitive of a trend with MSFT technology. We released SQL 2005 over a year ago. Has there been an SP? No. Has there been any exploit? No. Why? Because 5 years ago, Microsoft dramatically changed the way in which software was built. And we are all about to reap the benefits. I believe, and have said this before (disclaimer: these are my opinions based on lifetime in tech NOT the opinions of the MSFT corporation) that Windows Vista spells the end of the age of easily constructed, easily propogated exploits. The end of virii and worms as we have known them.Anonymous

Also, there is nothing premature about this article--it is factually accurate and timely.Anonymous

Hey Murph- The "good press" to which you're referring is a "beauty in the eye of the beholder" type of thing. Per the article, are no security patches being released by MS in March. Apple, by contrast, is cranking them out (45). How this makes MS look better than Apple (in terms of having a secure O/S) I don't know. I like Vista and Office 2007 very much. Am I excited that I don't have to patch either this month? I'm not complaining, but I'm not ready to host a party, either. I've been using Mac operating systems for 20+ years, and, historically have had to patch them with less frequency than MS operating systems. Either way, this article is premature and can offer no valid conclusions.
