IT Pro User Groups in NYC

The IT Pro User Group Community is alive and well, flourishing even, in New York. Tonight, Tuesday March 8th, at the Microsoft offices at

1290 6th Ave.

and 52nd, just a block north of Radio City, two brand new User Groups will meet for the first time!

At 6pm the first meeting of the NY Exchange Servers User Group kicks off. Can you believe no Exchange Group has existed in NYC until now?! It seems incredible, but now there will be a forum in which Exchange Administrators can network, share real world solutions, and listen to top notch speakers. Tonight’s presentation by Ben Serebin of REEFsolutions.com will focus on messaging security- protecting mail in transit; SSL over {insert favorite protocol}, STARTTLS, and RPC over HTTPS plus great giveaways. For more info email Ben at NY Exchange User Group Email Sign-up Regularly scheduled meetings are on the books for the second Tuesday of each month. ( www.nyexug.com coming soon to a browser near you.)

At 6:30 the first meeting of the NY Small Business Server User Group launches what is sure to be a smash hit. More and more small to medium sized companies are implementing SBS as their first/single server solution. The latest release of SBS features a ton of enhancements over the earlier versions and consultants are capitalizing on the improved feature set to improve revenue streams while administrators exploit the power of SBS to streamline network operations. Check out the website at https://www.nysbs.net/ or just show up-I promise good discussion and free pizza! There may even be a surprise raffle drawing, hint: it starts and ends with X. You must be present to win!Regularly scheduled meetings are likely to be held the second Wednesday of every month moving forward.

Also recently formed and gaining momentum with a few meetings under their belts is the NY SQL Servers User Group! Meeting at the Microsoft offices the fourth Thursday of every month the group declares itself to be " New York City's ultimate SQL Server community, offering meetings with top MS SQL Server experts - speakers, forums, on-line training labs and web casts, sample databases, scripts, stored procedures, documentation, job listings and more. The aim of the user group is to help your professional development as a DBA, developer, or user of SQL Server" See the website https://nyc.sqlservercentral.com/ for more info or email the people who make it happen, Linchi Shea linchi_shea@ml.com and Joe Lax joelax@dbdirections.com directly.

No commentary on the IT Pro User group community in NY would be complete with out a final mention of the folks that have been making it happen all along, the New York Windows Enterprise Users Group, need we say more? https://www.nyewin.org/

If you represent a group you'd like me to mention here or one that needs a Microsoft speaker submit a comment that includes your email address and I'll get back to you.
