There seems to be an issue with the Outlook 2010 ADM/ADMX Template Files.
The Description for the setting “Exchange Unicode Mode – Turn Off ANSI Mode” Appears to be incorrect.
When working with a customer to deploy a policy to force all legacy OST’s to be silently changed to Unicode format, we used the policy below to “Disable” the Turn Off ANSI Mode. (Which , according to the description, is correct)
However, the opposite occurred, and we ended up silently changing all OST’s to ANSI Mode.
I am working on addressing this documentation error internally, and will post a tutorial on how to accomplish this change in the coming weeks, however, for now:
In Outlook 2010
- If you wish to use UNICODE Ost’s , then this setting should be *ENABLED*
- If you wish to use ANSI Ost’s, then this setting should be *DISABLED*
