Getting Started with Power BI
As often happens - I meet a series of customers who are keen to learn about something, Power BI in this case, and I collate a growing list of useful links and things to get started with. So here's my current list for Power BI.
Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)
- Good video on how to use Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) for advanced and more complex formulas
- Quick Measures
- A new wizard for creating (and learning) DAX expressions
-
- Using SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) is a great way to scale up Power BI, and to allow the creation of reports with Power BI desktop without pulling all the data down to the desktop computer. One simply connects Power BI desktop to SSAS to develop the reports.
- This is the first installment of a two-part series. How SQL Server 2016 Analysis Services (SSAS) can provide fast access to data to allow analysis at the speed of thought and part two, where we discuss the specific improvements made to SSAS for SQL Server 2016.
Create and manage relationships in Power BI Desktop
- A key topic in the creation of powerful reports
Microsoft Data Insights Summit
- Some very informative videos from this years summit – introduces many new features coming down the line.
