Microsoft Management Summit 2009 Highlights

 

This week, Microsoft hosted the annual Microsoft Management Summit 2009 (MMS) where industry experts and Microsoft customers congregate the share knowledge and best practices on the latest management technologies and OS platform enhancements from Microsoft.

The first 2 days of the show were kicked off by Bob Kelly, Corporate Vice President of Infrastructure Server Marketing at Microsoft and Brad Anderson, General Manager of the Management and Services Division at Microsoft.

  • On Day 1, Bob Kelly announced expanded cloud computing initiatives, and invited customers and partners to create, deploy and manage the foundation for highly scalable, cloud-based solutions using Microsoft’s familiar tools, products and online services. Key points were also discussed regarding the cost-saving opportunities that private and public cloud computing environments can bring to organizations.
  • On Day 2, Brad Anderson shared progress on Microsoft’s user-centric client management strategy. The strategy focuses on empowering end users, and enabling IT professionals to orchestrate the delivery of business services to an expanded portfolio of devices and access scenarios. He also demonstrated how products such as Windows 7, the virtualization technologies in Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack (MDOP), and Microsoft System Center management suite provide customers with the foundation for user-centric client management.

  

In addition, the Microsoft Solution Accelerators Team is presenting in 26 sessions to showcase free planning tools, security toolkits, operation-based tools and more.  Key sessions cover Solution Accelerators such as:
