Introducing the LOBApps Blog - Services for JD Edwards, Peoplesoft, SAP, Siebel, and other mission-critical line-of-business applications

Microsoft Services is the consulting and enterprise services support division of Microsoft. The division's mission:

We want to help businesses around the world get the best return on their investment in Microsoft products and technologies. We do this in two ways: First, we support our IT partners with shared knowledge through the Services Ready Program. And second, we work directly with our customers on architecture and planning services to help business move forward with IT initiatives that deliver the most business value by deploying and optimizing IT services and managed support services to proactively manage the health of the IT landscape.

Within the consulting organization of this division the application platform group focuses on dynamic infrastructures that meet the changing needs of businesses, and drive real business results.

This blog focuses on services available for line-of business (LOB) applications, such as JD Edwards, Peoplesoft, SAP, or Siebel, which are operated on the Microsoft Application Platform. Our intention with this blog is to share best practices and to provide guidance gained from real-world customer engagements around the world and along the life-cycle of mission-critical LOB applications.

Indeed...this is underlining our thoughts-and the approach to standardize the Services approach. Some of our best practices for developing and evangelizing the business architecture include: • Review the current system specification and the underlying technology • Map these to the business strategy (and to identify gaps) • Review the horizontal (business processes) and vertical (role-based view) requirements • Prioritize the application (services) portfolio to provide these capabilities (if early engaged) • Collect and Standardize the user experience across applications
