Patch it!

Before I embark on the Patch tool rattle...

The Toolkit is a Shared Source Project and builds on top of the Microsoft ASP.Net AJAX technology, formerly known as Atlas. It releases code under the MS-PL license. We have around 15 contributors from around the world who work on its controls. The Toolkit is growing. It has had more than 120,000 downloads of our last release so far and is still going strong. It has around 35 controls with more coming up and lots more requested that we may never get to. For the controls already in, we have a ton of feature requests and bugs being reported every day. In short, we have a lot of work that needs to be done that cannot be accomplished by us alone. Except I forgot to mention one thing, we have a super active community with lots of ideas on how to make the Toolkit better and fixes for the same.

That's where the Toolkit Patch Utility comes into the picture fills the gap. We would like to leverage the power of the community and make it a cakewalk for anybody to provide code fixes that we could incorporate easily into the Toolkit code. This is a tried and tested technique in the open source community and we are confident that this will help us serve our users better. Yes, you do not need to be a Toolkit contributor to contribute! All you need to do is find purpose and the means will follow. In your case, the purpose would be a worthy Toolkit bug that you care about fixing and the means would be this Patch Tool Utility that will enable you to achieve that. Do you feel like you have the power in your hands to transform the Toolkit into something even cooler? Be warned that with great power comes great responsibility. You need to make sure that your patch actually fixes the bug, does not break anything else in the Toolkit and has a good description for your fix to be considered. The Toolkit team will review the fix in your Patch and if it is deemed safe will accept the fix and check it in on your behalf.

Now that I have provided you with some details let me revert back to my pitch.

Calling all Toolkit enthusiasts, well wishers and friends, share your code! Go ahead! Patch it!
