Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon unboxed
Lenovo has finally taken the wraps of the X1 Carbon which is the new carbon fiber based Ultrabook ™ from Lenovo. Here’s the unboxing video.
I believe I’ll have an eval unit this week or next so be sure to stay tuned for more information as I dig into the product and see how it handles Windows 7, Windows 8 and other scenarios that are important. Here’s a cool commercial.

Place i work had/have one. Nice. Various configurations to choose from. But at least they didn't include any useless Thunderbolt ports that the new Macs carry and you can change the battery. :-)Anonymous

I actually wish it included a Thunderbolt port and external video dock option. The X1 Carbon is a sealed case design so the battery IS NOT changeable. The battery life isn't terrific but it is offset by RapidCharge.Anonymous

@Keith: Hmmmm. Maybe I was thinking of a different model then.Anonymous

You were probably thinking of the T430S. It has a removable battery. They haven't released the final specs for the T430U.Anonymous

I hope there will be "Hybrid" version. I find the idea of having both: Intel and ARM processor together in laptop as briliant.Anonymous

When you receive test unit, will you be allowed to run some benchmarks or Lenovo prohibits any tests before official release date? (I think intel had such policy with ivy bridge)Anonymous

Keith, I'm curious on 3d mark 2006 as I'm using it for few years now each time i get new laptop to check improvements over performance. Particulary interested here since it's combination of ULV + HD4000. Also as optimist I hope this "NVIDIA N13P-GLP Optimus Graphics (2 GB VRAM, 128 bit)" mentioned in lenovo x1 official PDF is not a typo and they managed "impossible" (some say it's unrealistic but kudos to Asus, they managed 620M with their UX32VD ultrabook). Having discrete gpu is nice feature for some 3d applications, also I rarely do some gaming but it happens.Anonymous
