Pregnant geeks

A few years ago I lost a lot of weight, and I found that "The Hacker's Diet" was a very useful tool for me in that process, it applied geeky skills to the weightloss process and it Just Made Sense. For example, it used moving averages to distill the trend in weightloss from a minor gain or loss in any individual day, so that you don't get discouraged or overly confident just because of a single day's results.

Today, I realized that I've been unconsciously doing something similar in pregnancy. I've read many times about the "Nesting Instinct" that kicks in for so many pregnant women, when they go around cleaning their homes uncontrollably to an obsessive level of detail. Much to my tidy husband's chagrin, this has not happened to me.

But then today, I realized it had... I spent two hours porting contact information from a series of spreadsheets into what I can only call a "database on sharepoint", a semi-elaborate set of lists linked back and forth with each other. When I was done, I looked at the lists and felt at peace.

So I'm not cleaning the house with a toothbrush... but hot diggity, I cleaned up that spreadsheet and made it all fresh and organized in sharepoint, and that felt goooooooooood.

Wow. I just read a whole load of that Hacker's Diet book from your link. Great stuff! I'm not quite to the 20/20 point, but in need of a "service pack" (well, in addition to the fabulous E'03 SP2.. :) Thanks!

I'll elect not to comment on the nesting habits of the preganant northamerican female as I am unfamiliar with the subject. ;)

Even if you were familiar, I would not recommend commenting on anything they do. Just nod and smile:)
