Get Connected....
Ok this is not another blog entry on UC or convergence of networks but rather a more fundamental way of connecting. I have a little story to tell and I recommend you read it and take note.
Basically I was a sitting at my desk on a tuesday afternoon and the phone rang. The guy on the other end asked if it was Julian and if I had any knowledge of a certain project. I said no and thought that he has got the wrong Julian and we would return plesantries and that would be the end of the call.
However the guy on the other end who was called Amos asked if I fancied a coffee and a chat, I had time to spare so went for it.
Well to cut a long story short it was really worthwhile. Amos had just joined the company and was just finding his feet, but we talked about his part of the business what he had come from and his perceptions of Microsoft and what he hoped for his future here . More importantly it allowed both of us to gain an insight into a different part of the business and how it may open up opportunities and resources to both of us. It proved to be really useful.
So I am going to try and meet someone every month, just randomly out of the blue call someone and see if they have time for a coffee and go from there. They might not always be the success that this was but even if it means I get a slight insight into another part of the business and find what their concerns are as well as spreading the word of Unified Comms then I think it will be worthwhile.
Why don't you try and do the same?
