Windows Phone 7 Series Announced

Just watched some nice demos of Microsoft's next generation of mobile phones - the Windows Phone 7 Series.

You can have a look yourself at the fancy stuff on the new website, https://windowsphone7series.com.

These devices should be out in time for Christmas.

Anyone interesting in the development aspects will have to wait a month for the announcements at MIX10 in mid-March.

In the meantime, you can follow Charlie Kindel (@CKindel) on Twitter or subscribe to his blog for news.

What does this mean for MSMQ on WP7S?  Is there a new messaging service?  Where can we find details about this?  Thx

That's an interesting question (or 3). I've had a chat with some colleagues (none of whom are "in the know") and have come to the conclusion that MSMQ will not make the leap from Windows Mobile to Windows Phone. Windows Phone requires development on Silverlight and even 4.0 does not include any MSMQ code. There's also no equivalent functionality that you could use instead. It looks like you will need to start from scratch - no simple migration path. Cheers John Breakwell (MSFT)
