MSMQ 4.0 Management Pack for Operations Manager 2005

    Thanks for posting this John (I'm the one who asked about this on your earlier post). However it seems strange that there is a MSMQ 4.0 management pack for MOM 2005 but not for SCOM 2007. Any idea if this one works in SCOM, and if not, when we can expect to see one that does? thanks Tom

    Hi Tom, my assumption (because I don't really know) is that the management packs were specced out at different times. The Windows 2008 pack was planned well in advance and so designed with the technology of the time (MOM 2005). The Windows 2003 pack was more demand-driven and so started when SCOM 2007 was around. Alternatively, it could be that both started off as MOM 2005 packs but only the Windows 2003 version converted reliably to SCOM 2007. But this is all pure speculation. If you want to run the MSMQ 4.0 pack on SCOM 2007 then you could try converting it yourself: 1 - convert the MOM 2005 MP to XML file using MP2XML.EXE (from the MOM 2005 resource kit). 2 - convert the XML file to an SCOM 2007 MP using MPCONVERT.EXE. No guarantees for how successful this will be. Cheers John Breakwell

    I'm actually looking for this management pack. It's been a year... you'd think they could monitor MSMQ on Win2k8 by now.
