Scooby Snax: I don't like math
Bad Math: I had the same thoughts Kevin did when I saw the Napster Superbowl ad telling me to do the math. "If you sign up when you are 15 years old. By the time your my age (30), you'll have spent $2,700 to not have your music collection in your physical possession." I buy singles on iTunes, but I still prefer to buy music in a physical form that allows me the ultimate portability over time. Maybe ours is the last generation that cares about really owning our digital media. If this model takes off then I'll take it as one of the first signs that I'm "just getting old and don't understand".

I know what you mean... but I already own very little of my digital media. =(
All my software is "licenced" and while I have never fully read through a EULA I'm sure the company reserves the right to revoke the licence at any time.
I just look at it [napster] like Netflix: In return for giving up ownership, I get more than I would buy traditionally.Anonymous

Ok, I think you've got valid points with the netflix analogy. Maybe it's the price point that rubs me the wrong way. Maybe it could be cheaper, but give you less. I'm thinking maybe you could "rent" 100 or so tracks at a time for around 5 dollars per month. Sort of like controlling the play list for your own radio station.Anonymous

Dooce had 13 comments 4 minutes after she posted her blog entry this morning, 25 after 11 minutes. Probably why she doesnt open her entries up for comments very often. How on Earth could she keep up with them? Protein Wisdom had over 300 on one of his entries and Sheila routinely gets 40-50 comments on her entries. Maybe, no definitely, this blog's obscurity is a blessing. I think the most I ever got here...Anonymous

I absolutely agree. If I pay for music, I want to own it.Anonymous
