A Few Good Posts on WPF 4

Yesterday, we celebrated the official release of Visual Studio 2010 and .NET 4. Check out Bob Muglia’s keynote here.

One of the major changes in VS 2010 is the fact that its UI was built using WPF. We in the WPF team had to do a fair amount of work to support the migration of the VS UI to WPF. Paul Harrington’s series on WPF in Visual Studio 2010 has all the details.

There is, however, a lot more that is new and fresh in WPF 4 in addition to VS-related improvements.

Here is a list of a few blog posts that walk through the new features:

Pete Brown, a Community PM of ours, has an excellent post called WPF 4 Release: A guide to the new features. See Scott Guthrie’s post on WPF 4 too.

Jossef Goldberg, our Deployment and Performance PM, has a couple of posts on deployment (What’s new in .NET Framework 4 Client Profile RTM) and performance (What’s New for Performance in WPF in .NET 4).

Chipalo Street, our Text PM, has several blog entries on text clarity – a big area of investment for WPF 4. I recommend starting with the Additional WPF Text Clarity Improvements post.

Lester Lobo, the XAML SDET Lead for .NET 4, has a great series of posts on new WPF 4 features.

Enjoy WPF 4 and VS 2010!
