Thanks to Unicode that Hindi and other Indic languages are now exactly at par with English. This presentation will cover all language specific features including the activation of Hindi on the Windows Operating system with XP or above, the process of downloading IME to enable various users to input the text in Hindi by using the same qwerty keyboard used for English typing, Sorting in Hindi, Filenames in Hindi, Find and Replace in Hindi, Spell Check and Auto Correct in Hindi. Smart Tag features in Hindi etc. All these features have been made possible due to the Fonts-free, Browser-free and Operating System-free environment of Unicode.

Please note that the medium of this webcast will be in Hindi in the spirit of the day.

Mr. Malhotra is a former Director in the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, and has over 39 years of experience of translation from English to Hindi in Reserve Bank of India, Union Bank of India, and the Ministry of Railways in various positions. He’s associated with various international universities like University of York, UK and University of Pennsylvania, USA, as well as Mahatma Gandhi International Hindi University in Wardha, India. He also works with Microsoft as language co-coordinator and consultant for developing applications and tools for localization in Hindi.

Please spread the word, and join in for insights into Indic language computing.
