The "War for Talent" is status quo.
First, I would like to acknowledge that "war for talent" is a dated phrase; it's just how things are now. No political commentary (only in my head, kids), but the war metaphor is stale. And...poaching talent doesn't exist. People aren't fish. When can the recruiting industry stop talking a la Glengarry Glen Ross? No coffee for you, recruiting industry. And also...'IT Industry'? Argh. Ok, must stop. Grouchypants over here. On the other hand, I loves me a good infographic. Some interesting stuff here if you can look past some of the taxonomy.

Interesting data but I'm not sure that the analysis is up to much. Are Google employees really staying for free lunches and haircuts? This www.nytimes.com/.../13hire.html and this googletesting.blogspot.com/.../lessons-in-21st-century-tech-career.html would seem to suggest not. If the decline in CS majors is really true (and not just a reflection of dice.com trying to imply that companies should look to established professionals for recruitment instead of college campuses) then that is a little depressing. I could certainly believe it, the incessant drumbeat news of job offshoring has no doubt had an effect, as has the ever-increasing cost of a 4 year degree.
