“Scientist Workbench”–Harnessing the Power of Today’s Information Tsunami

clip_image003Information management is critical to stay competitive in many industries. This is especially true in the Health & Life Sciences Industry where increased competition, profitability pressures, inefficient processes, regulatory compliance, and lack of data integration are only some of the challenges. Some might see these as obstacles and the cost of doing business…but we see them as an industry renaissance opportunity, where IT is an enabler to business needs. Microsoft has developed an industry solution Framework called the “Scientist Workbench”(SWB) to help address this industry need. “Scientist Workbench” willenable scientists to be more productive by addressing their needs across the entire drug discovery process, allowing data/information visualization for analysis, annotation, collaboration in context, and enhanced search across structured, metadata data. In today’s session, we will share information/experiences about the “Scientist Workbench” from a business solutions, technology platform, Partner adoption, and consumer usability perspective. We will also share the execution model where Microsoft customers and ISV Partners can capitalize on this framework to build compelling Life Sciences products and solutions; ensuring quality and interoperability in final assembly.

Ø Pre-Event Announcement and Discussions: BioIT Alliance Forum Meeting

o Rudy Potenzone, Director of The Bio IT Alliance, will kick off its 2008 events with a luncheon prior to this Industry Council meeting. The Bio IT Alliance now has over 65 members and is focused on sharing technology and product information between Microsoft and member companies. Founded in April 2006, the Bio IT Alliance will continue to explore open standards for data interchange, application interoperability and service oriented architecture components for Life Science applications.
