Configure SCCM after update to WinPe 3.1
Once you have updated WAIK with the supplement for Windows 7 and 2008 R2 SP1 the next thing is to either create a set of 2 new boot images (and x86 and x64) based on WinPe 3.1 or update SCCM to WinPE 3.1 and reload the old boot images including the defaults.
To create a set of new boot images:
1. Open the deployment tools command prompt with an elevated privilege and execute the command COPYPE.CMD x86 <Destination Directory>
COPYPE.CMD AMD64 <Destination Directory>
2. From SCCM Computer Management – Operating System Deployment – Boot Image – Add Boot Image and follow the wizard till the end
3. Repeat the procedure for the x86 and x64 version
To update SCCM:
1. Open a Wbemtest from an elevated cmd prompt and select Connect
2. Type the WMI Namespace root\SMS\Site_<sitecode> and Connect
3. Select Execute Method and enter SMS_BootImagePackage Object and select OK
4. Select ExportDefaultBootImage from the Method Dropdown box and Edit In Parameters
5. Select Hide System Properties
a. X86 in the Architecture
b. \\<site_server_name>\sms_<site_code>\OSD\boot\i386\boot.wim in the ExportImagePath
c. 1 in the ImageIndex
8. Repeat the step 6 for x64:
a. X64 in the Architecture
b. \\<site_server_name>\sms_<site_code>\OSD\boot\x64\boot.wim in the ExportImagePath
c. 1 in the ImageIndex
9. Save Object and Execute
