Better late than never

Good heavens, I just realized I completely forgot to post a link to this interview. I'm a year late, but better late than never.

A year ago Ken stopped by my office and we had a very freewheeling, entertaining and rather random conversation about many diverse aspects of programming language design. If you're interested and you have 45 minutes to spare, check it out. Audio only, for a change.

    Interesting, thanks for the link. Anyhow I dont really like the interviewer's style. He was interrupting you way too much. The interview is supposed to be about how much Eric Lippert knows about the subject at hand, not about how much the interviewer knows...IMHO interviewers should be way more inconspicous. my two cents...

    Totally agree.  The amount of times he interrupted and then asked a new question when Eric was describing something really interesting and leading up to a point.  This seriously wound me up.  You gave him too much credit with the word "style".  He doesn't know how to interview.

    The idea about a common backend for several compilers to generate the real machine/IL code from something intermediate that compilers produce is pretty like the one used for decades (no even for years) in *nix environments. C++ compiler as far as I know used to produce an intermediate (C) code, too.
