Managing social networking with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007

<ShamelessPlug>

A new white paper I just finished writing on social networking and Office SharePoint Server was recently published.  Download it from the following location:

https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=98123&clcid=0x409

I was fortunate enough to work and co-author with folks that are very close to social networking within Microsoft as a technology focus as well as a member of the elite SharePoint Ranger team within Microsoft (Rangers are product/server specific folks within Microsoft that have expert experience in implementing those solutions within the enterprise).

This has sparked new interest in how organizations can leverage social networking (technologies like MySpace, Facebook and Live Spaces) in the enterprise.  Expect to see some new topical documentation on this from Microsoft in the future.

The paper is basically a what do to and what not to do guide for SharePoint administrators to take to their business stakeholders and say "Look!  We should be doing this!"  It also explains what the pitfalls are during implementation and how to avoid them.
