Error: Microsoft Dynamics GP has encountered an error and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. appears when launching or posting in Microsoft Dynamics GP following a compliance update, service pack or hotfix installation.
After applying a service pack, hotfix, compliance update or year end update, the error "Microsoft Dynamics GP has encountered an error and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." appears when completing one or more of the following tasks:
1. Launching Microsoft Dynamics GP
2. Posting a transaction or batch in any module.
3. Running any report in any module.
If you click OK on the error, Microsoft Dynamics GP will close out. In Event Viewer, there may also be a 1000 Event indicating a Dynamics.exe “hang” or “crash”.
This error generally indicates an issue with the Reports.dic or Forms.dic file. If you experience this issue, you will want to go to the following KB articles to go through the steps on how to recreate your Reports.dic and Forms.dic files:
