sunday posts for everyone: bing maps and photosynth integration!
last week at malta elementary all the kids were excited about the photosynth (a 3 dimensional representation of a place or an object from different angles) and i also showed them the bing map app of some of those photosynths. once we got to the microsoft surface globe application (part of the windows 7 touch pack recently made publically available) – that’s where they spent most of their time.
you can see various angles of the classroom and the microsoft surface globe application that the students used here.
once you install photosynth from <photosynth.net> you can start a new one from the software.
the photosynth map app is available from bing maps in the lower left hand corner of the www.bing.com/maps page
there are 63 synths integrated into the downtown chicago map information on bing.
nbc chicago building photosynth (4 pictures from different angles of the front of the building)
diving into the photosynth from the sears tower skydeck…
87 photos from the sears tower sky deck (you can click around to various positions with the mouse or on the screen with a windows 7 touch computer)
there’s also a cool street side view feature in bing maps where you can walk around downtown chicago from whereever you are.
