sam’s presentation @sitconference

on saturday my son sam and i attended the 10th annual sit conference (students involved with technology) – it was a well attended event and sam gave a presentation on speech and touch capabilities on microsoft windows computers and in a ford vehicle equipped with microsoft sync.

there was a great turn out considering this was the second year that one of the locations was dekalb.  the keynote presentation was given by dr. aaron parness and there were sessions on robotics, games, video, animation, hardware and software among others.

sam’s middle school also posted a newscast this past fall which included the results of a video game survey (the xbox won!).  i’ve been impressed by the use of smart board technology in the district (the school district still has windows xp as the operating system for most of them, but windows 7 worked really well for sam’s presentation – these smart boards are not multi touch devices)

the world or warcraft and halo online sessions were at capacity.  we asked sam if he would participate next year and he has a lot of interest.  i’ve uploaded a couple videos and you can view them here:

after sam’s second session two middle school girls gave a presentation on windows movie maker showcasing a video they made.  we also sat in on a session demonstrating magix music maker 15 (version 16 is out now) from a high school student that plays bass and a presentation from a first lego league team.
