The Windows Mobile 6 Wing is here! Special price for Microsoft developers and partners

Today T-Mobile is announcing the Wing, the first new Windows mobile 6 phone available in the US.  Of course, the upgrade for the Dash is available now, but this is a brand new phone. And a really good one. Engadget somehow got the news before T-Mobile announced it.

I played with the Wing for a bit, these are my first observations:

It is really small. So small it could "hide" behind a Dash. It's 30% smaller than the MDA.

It has a very nice finish - velvety blue material

They keyboard is very good: from the spring that makes it easier to open to the

Windows Live/Hotmail mail (including push and HTML email) and messenger as well as Windows Live Spaces

Windows Mobile Live Search is awesome - check it out! www.windowsmobile.com/livesearch

T-Mobile Wing Specs:

59x109x17mm, 170g,

Windows Mobile 6 Professional

32bit Texas Instruments OMAP 850 CPU @ 201MHz

128MB ROM / 64MB RAM

2.8" color transflective TFT display, 65536 colors, 240x320pixel

Cellular GSM, GPRS, EDGE plus 802.11 WLAN, Bluetooth

Slide-out QWERTY-type keyboard

1.9 megapixel main camera

1130mAh Lithium-ion battery

SPECIAL PRICE FOR YOU - here is the good new: the WIng is going to be really affordable. The better news is that we negotiated a special price for all Microsoft partners, developers and IT Professionals (which pretty much means anyone who reads this blog). Many people took advantage of special pricing for the Dash which still is valid (49.99 after rebates!) .

The Wing Special Price is only $99.99 after mail-in rebate

  • Price is good only for new activations and requires a one year contract and a voice+data plan
  • Call 1-866-464-8662 and mention promo code "Windows Mobile Offer"
  • This offer is not available at retail. You could buy online following this link but you may have to pay an activation fee

For existing T-Mobile customers that wish to upgrade to the Wing, T-Mobile tells me pricing will be based on your account tenure, rate plan and contract extension. For all upgrade questions please call 800-937-8997
