Giant Asteroids Made Possible With Lasers
Well, that's certainly a cool sounding title for a blog post, but it doesn't really compare to what the post is really about.
At the San Diego Civic Center August 6-8, the SIGGRAPH Computer Animation Festival will host giant versions of games such as Asteroids, Tempest, and Star Wars. These games are the only three classic arcade games that use vector graphics, enabling them to be giant-ized without pixellating.
The games will be controlled with traditional arcade consoles, but the game's original vector mathematics will be translated into what amounts to a giant laser light show. Celebrity players will be controlling the games, and each of the showings is "expected to sell out."
