What's new in Windows Forms
Chris Sells points out the new Whidbey Windows Forms pages. Lots of great screenshots on their new features. Below are some of my favorites:
Layout Controls
Toolstrip Control
DataGridView Control
They also have a dedicated Whidbey Windows Forms Forum

Looks like it is easy enough to just say sound.play("filename.wav") like we were talking about at Bey.NET last week. THe only problem is that it will only play WAV's. Can a developer extend that to play other formats (wma?) or do we need to revert to DirectX for that? - Anonymous

Hey Todd,
Good question and in fact, someone else asked the same exact thing when I discussed the sound control in an earlier blog posting. The summary is that the easiest way is to hear wma or mp3 file formats is to use the Windows Media Player control. You can find more information at: http://blogs.msdn.com/danielfe/archive/2004/02/19/76677.aspx - Anonymous

Dan,
Thanks. That makes sense now. After I clicked send I thought of why it is that way. You probably don’t need to encode ding.wav in WMA or in MP3. It’s small enough as a wav file and that’s what this control is probably supposed to be used for. Am I right, or am I still missing the big picture? - Anonymous
