Australian BizTalk User Groups

One of the great BizTalk community initiatives that have managed to get kicked off over the lat 8-9 months have been the user groups! Cameron Reilly and I had talked about it for some time when he was still at Microsoft... but in my true fashion I took my time about trying to help start one! After many more months had passed Bill Chesnut from Readify and I were having a coffee at the Como Centre and we agreed that we both really wanted to kick off the first ever User Group for BizTalk here in Australia. The rest is history! Bill put his hand up and agreed to run the Melbourne BizTalk User group and so we both embarked on recruiting the community and letting them know. The first meeting we had back in Oct 04 had 57 people at it... which was testament to the strength of the BTS community in Melbourne. Since then, Sydney and Brisbane have also been started with fabulous results. So I thought it important to share that information so you know who's involved and how to get involved!

Melbourne BizTalk User Group (https://melbiz.org) : As mentioned this is run by Bill Chesnut from Readify who is a worldwide MVP for BizTalk. He has a wealth of BizTalk experience and knowledge and is someone you need to get to know in the BizTalk Community.

Sydney BizTalk User Group (https://sydbiz.org) : This is run by another great BizTalk community member called Mick Badran who runs his own company called BreezeTraining. Mick has tons of experience in BizTalk and is an active member of the community in Sydney (and nationally actually!)

Brisbane BizTalk User Group (https://briztalk.org) : Brisbane is facilitated by a member of the customer community which is awesome! Daniel Toomey is a fantastic guy who has been involved in his own companies BizTalk development / operations so has some great experiences to share. I really like the name as well... BrizTalk :-) Credit goes to Daniel's wife for that one!

All in all, if you are involved in any BizTalk development / management / operations work then you should try to at least get to one of these meetings to meet the rest of the clan (or if you are located in another state, then subscribe to these user groups so that you are kept up to date with any postings and presentations that might benefit you). Even if you can't stay for the sessions because of family commitments etc, come along to the first ½ hr or so where we throw on some pizza's and drinks! Hope to see you all there sometime.

    Galvin.
You should look at some of your internal channels as well (CSC). They are active in Australia around BizTalk. You could also check one of australia's largest job sites called http://www.seek.com.au Search for jobs by vendor i.e. Microsoft. Good luck!
