Socialize your SharePoint workflows with Nintex Workflow for Office 365 and Yammer

For our session at the Working Social Tour in San Francisco this week, the theme was: Improving Your Business Processes with Social. One of our demo showcased a customer service representative opening a ticket using a SharePoint list and reaching out to Finance and R&D for further help to close the incident. I wanted to automate the Yammer message posting, hence two weeks ago I added the newly released Nintex Workflow for Office 365 app to my Office 365 demo tenant, (yes there is a free 30 days trial available so don’t be shy!) Thanks to Alex Burton’s (blog & Twitter) help I created a simple workflow that would create the Yammer message (containing incident information and link) as well as other activities like assign a task in SharePoint (screenshots below).

Not only it was easy to get started and easily connect the services (SharePoint Online & Yammer), what I was really after is a better together story of having a process driven by SharePoint’s workflow capabilities (in this case an incident) and leverage the Yammer network and employee community to reach out to close the ticket faster.

Stepping back you can leverage this better together story for many processes you all have at your respective companies I’m sure.

It’s also great to see the rich SharePoint partner ecosystem include Yammer in their applications (I’ve had many discussions lately and the pipeline is very very exciting…)

Happy social workflows and see you in New York for a live demo.
