RED HAT ENTERPRISE LINUX NOW SUPPORTED WITH HYPER-V

When we first released Hyper-V, support for Novell’s SUSE Linux Enterprise Server was a shock to many customers. However, we’ve seen many customers in mixed environments virtualize SUSE Linux alongside their Windows virtual machines. We’ve received many requests for additional Linux distributions, and we worked closely with Red Hat to provide this announcement. We’ve now added support for the following Linux distributions to the Linux Integration Components for Hyper-V:

· Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.2 (x86/x64)

· Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 (x86/x64)

· Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.4 (x86/x64)

These operating systems now have support for the synthetic network and storage devices, enabling significant performance gains.

FAQ

Q: Will these Linux ICs enable support for more than one virtual CPU?

A: No. This release of the Linux IC’s does not provide support for more than one virtual

processor.

Q: Will these Linux ICs enable mouse support?

A: Synthetic mouse support will not be included in this download. However, synthetic

mouse drivers for use with Linux running on Hyper-V

Q: Did Citrix develop these ICs?

A: No. The Linux IC’s were developed by a team in the Microsoft Open Source Technology

Center. A huge shout out to Hank Janssen, Haiyang Zhang and Hashir Abdi who have been

working tirelessly to enhance the capabilities of the IC’s.
