Hyper-V og Linux integration
Informationer om Hyper-V og Linux integration.
It is our endeavor to provide our customers who have Windows and non-Windows guests an enterprise class virtualization platform. Towards that end we support running Linux (SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and Red Hat Enterprise Linux) on Hyper-V and provide integration components for these operating systems. This allows our customers to run these OS’ in an optimized manner on Hyper-V. In addition, to ensure that customers have an integrated experience, we also submitted our Linux IC’s into the Linux Kernel so distributions in the future will have the Linux IC’s built-in.
It is also our endeavor to provide our customer with the tools and guidance on running Linux on Hyper-V. There have been many (MS and other) blogs about the process of installing Linux on Hyper-V, as well as some recorded demos. However, not many of these came from a Microsoft spokesperson.
This year, Platform Strategy team has taken upon themselves to develop and deliver content for Linux on Hyper-V, as well as high quality screencasts. The first one in the series is for installing SLES 10.2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 Hyper-V, enabling the integration components, as well as mouse control.
You can watch this screencast, and forward it to your customers – and yes, there are more in the pipe.

In July we notified you of Microsoft’s contribution to the Linux kernel, and the release of v2 Integration Components.
Since then we informed you of the support agreement we formed with Novell for SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10.2, and have worked a similar agreement with Red Hat for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 and 5.4.
If you have any questions/feedback/thoughts, please email Shai Ofek and Brett Shoemaker from the Platform Strategy Team.
