Securely access business critical information from the field with Data Pigeon
Founded in 2015, Data Pigeon is a UK-based startup enabling companies across a diverse range of industries -- including telecommunications, manufacturing, information technology, hospitality, logistics, retail, and energy -- to keep their mobile workforce connected to critical customer and business data. By providing real-time access to actual data sets whilst blending disparate data sources into a single, mobile view, Data Pigeon gives users the ability to review, query, and update customer and business information directly from the field. Plus, any information accessed through Data Pigeon is fully encrypted and information assets are never saved on a mobile device, ensuring that company information is completely secure.
Available with both rapid, simple deployment, Data Pigeon helps your team deliver the highest level of service at every customer touchpoint, all while enhancing productivity, efficiency and collaboration. According to Director and Co-Founder Gareth Scragg, the idea for Data Pigeon was born out of a currently evolving tech landscape that is affecting the demand for data access in nearly every industry. “On-demand access and real-time updates to critical information are not just helpful but imperative in today’s business environment, particularly in sales and field service. People are demanding it. We want to ensure that our customers can achieve the highest level of service and responsiveness for their customers without having to drastically alter their day-to-day operations. Our goal is to help them improve output and effectiveness, while still maintaining many of the business practices they were built on.”
A member of the BizSpark program, Data Pigeon is built and hosted entirely on Microsoft products, continues Scragg. Microsoft Team Foundation Server provides the company with source code control, task management, and security, while Visual Studio and Virtual Machines are leveraged as an integrated unit test environment which, according to Scragg, significantly streamlines their testing process. In addition, Data Pigeon uses SQL Database and Geo Replication to ensure that their solution is comprehensively underpinned by performant, resilient, and scalable storage. “Access to the fantastic range of technologies available to through the BizSpark program has helped us to produce a better and more robust product,” Scragg concludes.
