An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface.Exception Information: OSearch (Administrator)

I was getting this error while trying to start the Office SharePoint Server Search service on a standalone dev machine that I was configuring. The machine was not a part of any domain so I would just enter the username for the search account without the domain name. To solve this error one needs to provide the MachineName\AccountName for the search account to use

    Please explain more detailes. I tried to a sigle server farm and received "An unhandled exception occurred in the user interface.Exception Information: OSearch (Administrator)" message. I don't know what to do for solving it. Please Help me!

    may be its too late to answer you :) but I faced this problem recently and I solved it by assigning the domain name before you sepcify the user name of the service account.DomainNameUserName

    hi you can user domain user  to complete this task. local user cannot perfrom this step.
