Announcing Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

This was a big day for us as Ted Kummert (Vice President for SQL Server) announced the general availability of SQL Server 2012 SP1 at the PASS Summit 2012 today. This is a significant release because it delivers important updates as well as new capabilities for Office 2013 and SQL Server 2012. We’ve already blogged about the new BI features and other goodies in the Community Technology Preview 3 (CTP3) and Community Technology Preview 4 (CTP4) announcements. No need to repeat these again. For a complete list of changes in SQL Server 2012 SP1, please read the What’s new document and KB article 2674319.

    In the "Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP1 Feature Pack" page, there is a link to the page "Microsoft® SQL Server® 2012 SP1 PowerPivot for Microsoft® Excel 2010". However, it still points to the RTM version of the PowerPivot, not the SP1 version.Thanks,Tiago.

    Are there any instructions on how to apply this service back to a Windows 2012 core install? This is a supported platform for SQL Server 2012 RTM, so I assume it is for the service pack.

    Hi Marcus,The Service Pack should work exactly as the RTM version. Extract the slipstream version to a folder and you have the full install media ready to run Setup.Cheers,Kay

    Kay, i think that Marcus is asking for apply SP1 in a Windows Core.I have tried to install the SP1 with no success and unfortunately with no errors. I have checked to download the correct x64 version and the log, but it not supply any info.We should use the slipstream CD to update our core installation?Regards and thanks in advance

    Finally i got to do that, simply using commands like this "Setup.exe /action=patch /allinstances /Q /IAcceptSqlServerLicenseTerms"  Of course, before that, we have to uncompress the service pack file.Regards and thanks

    Why everything about SQL Server 2012 SP 1 is so complicated, why not get  a single package that would install SP 1 without going here and there etc....
