Error trying to validate storage account name while creating a new synapse workspace

I am unable to create a new data lake storage (gen2) account name in the basic tab for create Azure Synapse Workspace. The error I get is - " There was an error trying to validate storage account name. please try again ". The error message is not at all informative. This error is not letting me create a synapse workspace and I am stuck. Any idea what is causing this error ?

For those wondering how to find resource providers Navigate to Subscriptions:

In the left-hand menu, click on "Subscriptions". If you don't see it, you might need to search for it using the search bar at the top of the portal.

Select Your Subscription:

Click on the subscription you are using for your Azure Synapse Analytics workspace.

Access Resource Providers:

In the subscription blade, find and click on "Resource providers" in the left-hand menu under the "Settings" section.

The issue is resolved finally. All I had to do was to register 'Microsoft.storage' in the resource providers menu in the Azure subscription. Select the item and click on 'register' on the top of the page.

There are no references to this issue anywhere on the internet at this moment. I hope this helps someone who will face this issue in the future.

Hi HamzaRiaz,

Go to Azure home page, then click on subscriptions. Click on the subscription name (link) you are interested. You can find resource provider in the bottom part of the left pane.

It worked great I just want to add how to register 'Microsoft.storage'

Sign in to the Azure portal.

On the Azure portal menu, search for Subscriptions. ...

Select the subscription you want to view.

On the left menu, under Settings, select Resource providers.

Find the resource provider you want to register, and select Register.
